Varsity highlights

We needed PR performances from all of our runners to have a chance to qualify for the state meet, but that was not to be. Junior Carl Duke ran a strong race with a 17:58 PR in his first Varsity meet, and Morty Stensones-Fornaess ran his best race in the most important meet of the year thus far, finishing 7th overall in a PR 16:23 as the sole Pioneer state meet qualifier. Awesome, Morty. Go get 'em on Saturday!

Junior varsity highlights

The junior varsity team competed at the Jackson JV Invitational on Friday. The JV runners continued to show not only improvement but also increasing depth. The top eleven runners all broke the 19 minute mark, which is saying quite a lot given the cold and driving rain all had to endure in this race. The award for Most Promising Freshman is now officially a close three-man race, with Lang Burkhardt, Mark Antonuk, and Eric Anderson owning PR's which are within 3 seconds. Other notable performances included sophomore Chris Miller's 1:02 jump to a PR of 18:37, Dan Zhang's :59 PR of 21:31, and Paul Kimmeldorf's 1:02 improvement to 22:13.
