About the Foot Locker meets

The Foot Locker meets are a true national championship for high school cross country. There are 4 regional meets, with the top 8 boys and girls from each regional advancing to the national meet. Michigan runners compete at the Midwest Regional which is run in Kenosha, Wisconsin. There are a number of races. Besides the seeded race, which determines the national qualifiers, there are additional races for freshmen/sophmores and non-elite juniors/seniors.

Results

Soren Berg and Kevin Goehring competed in the seeded race. Soren bested Kevin and ran 17:29 to take #219. At first glance, Soren's time doesn't seem impressive. But the Kenosha course is quite difficult and the conditions were awful (20 degrees and very windy). In fact, this may have been Soren's best race of the year. Way to go Soren. Kevin was well back, as he ran 18:45.

Morty Stensones-Fornaess, Walker Rutter-Bowman and freshman Lang Burghardt ran in the freshman-sophmore race. Morty ran 18:58 and Walker was close behind in 19:08. Lang ran 22:03. Not great times for any of these runners, but all got to experience a Footlocker race for the first time.
