Brother Rice Invitational, Sept. 11, 1999HighlightsPioneer placed 7th out of 23 teams in a tough field which included some of the state's best teams. The gap between Pioneer and state powers Lakeland and Saline was less than 60 points. The top 4 runners had times of 18:02 or less. The top finisher was James Naughton in 22nd place (17:31). Three of the top four Pioneer runners recorded personal bests in the first race of the season (James Naughton, Robby Young, Joe Anderson). In the junior varsity race, Loren Kimeldorf placed 4th overall, running 18:29, a personal best. Other top JV runners were Nick Piotrowski, Allen Antonuk, Matt MacVey and Mike Kelly-Sell.
